Homework advice.

This booklet contains advice for schools when considering homework provision, focusing on how to keep homework relevant and ensuring that students complete it. I have gone through this document in both group and individual meetings with staff.

The questions staff should ask themselves when setting homework makes a nice starter activity in meetings.

The booklet contains the following sections.

  • Questions to ask as you are setting homework.
  • Ensuring homework is part of the learning process.
  • Acknowledge homework.
  • Include the homework as part of the next lesson.
  • Strategies to ensure that students complete the homework task.
  • Differentiate homework to meet the level, needs and progress of the students.
  • Skills based homework.
  • Raise the profile of homework.
